US Experts to Help Reshape King Saud University Dental College Program The College of Dentistry at King Saud University (KSU) is to undergo a makeover following the university’s decision to sign a deal with AAL, a group of experts from the USA, to improve teaching, elevate the school to international prominence, and make graduates more skilled and qualified internationally.
AAL's IAHE Instructor Cynthia Amyot receives 2011 Missouri Distance Learning Leadership Award. The award is given by the Missouri Distance Learning Association to individuals who show outstanding leadership in the field of distance learning through the development of innovative online programming, relevant scholarly research, and recognition by and service to professional organizations.
AAL President Dr. Karl Haden Awarded Medallion of Distinction by University of the Pacific. Dr. Karl Haden is the founder and president of the Academy of Academic Leadership. For over 15 years he has consulted with clients in academic healthcare including the Dugoni School of Dentistry to provide expertise in areas such as leadership development, organizational change, strategic planning and curriculum development.
Curriculum Change in Dental Education. This 2009 study of dental school curricula follows a similar one conducted in 2002-03. Through a web-based survey, the authors gathered information from dental schools about
1) past trends in curricular change over seven years;
2) current changes under way in dental school curricula;
3) significant challenges to curricular innovation; and
4) projected future trends in curricular change and innovation.
Model Approaches for Advancing Interprofessional Prevention Education Dr. Clyde Evans, AAL Director of Interprofessional Education Initiatives, examines the efficacy of interprofessional prevention education, where health professions students learn with, from, and about students from other professions to improve patient outcomes.
