The American Dental Education Association/AAL Institute for Teaching and Learning (ITL) is the premier teacher training program for full- and part-time dental and dental hygiene educators, and private practitioners embarking on a new career in academia.

The ITL can be taken as a standalone program that imparts the skills of a master educator and awards 50 CEUs. In addition to learning from award-winning ITL instructors, participants will network with dozens of colleagues from across the U.S. and Canada and from around the world.

Use the ITL to earn a Master's degree in 12 months.

The ITL program also serves as the pathway to a Dental Educator's Certificate and a Master's degree in Dental Education. The Certificate and Master's degree are awarded by the University of the Pacific. Alumni from any ITL program held since 2006 are eligible to enter the Certificate and Master's degree program. The ITL is a prerequisite for attending the Dental Educator's Certificate program, and Certificate completion is a prerequisite of the Master's degree.
