The Academy for Academic Leadership (AAL) is
The Nexus of Leading and Learning™

The AAL Nexus is defined by a:

  • Collaborative of leaders—AAL consultants are leaders and scholars in higher education and academic health care. Collectively, we have over three centuries of applicable experience—including leadership roles as presidents, deans, and other senior administrators—along with more than 500 peer-reviewed publications and a track record of funded research.
  • Continuum of learning— AAL programs span a lifetime of professional growth, from leadership training for administrators--including chairs and other academic managers--and academic career development for teaching, learning, and career planning for new faculty.
  • Culture of excellence — AAL’s professional development programs are designed to improve not only individuals, but also the organization to which they belong. Participants are given the tools to return to their home institutions and teach others what they have learned in AAL programs. In addition, AAL provides a range of strategic consulting services aimed at developing a culture of excellence.
  • Community of scholars — The AAL nexus means community. The community of scholars constitutes a network of colleagues and institutions for mutual support and personal, professional, and organizational growth.
