The ITL is much more than learning from “The Sage on the Stage”! Through a host of interactive assignments, you will work with faculty from a variety of institutions as well as dentists exploring education or transitioning to a second career. Find out the latest practices from your new network. Learn about job opportunities and trends. Make friendships that will last throughout your professional career.
Don’t worry—you’ll be among peers. The ITL primarily attracts the new educator eager for the latest teaching methods and strategies to help their students succeed, as well as private practitioners who are considering a new career path or have taken the leap and are now preparing for faculty positions. You’ll also meet the occasional mid-career professor who wants to get retooled for a new generation of learners.
Participation in the ITL introduces you to a diverse community of learners. You will find a wide variety of specialties and interests among your fellow ITL Scholars, as well as a range of career plans and ambitions. Participants in the ITL tend to be lifelong learners—people who want to continue to grow personally and professionally. Share in the enthusiasm of leading and learning and engage new colleagues.
View the new 2009 ADEA/AAL Institute for Teaching and Learning - Directory of Scholars. The ITL is an excellent pathway to the Society of Teaching and Learning (SoTL), a community of predoctoral, allied, and advanced dental educators, which seeks enrichment and networking opportunities to continue their professional development. Members of SoTL contribute to the professional development and mentoring of other faculty as they progress through their academic careers. You can benefit dental education through active membership in the American Dental Education Association (ADEA) and in conjunction with ADEA’s faculty development workshops at the Annual Session & Exposition.
