Cultural Competence:
|
Dates Offered: October 14 - 18, 2024
Course DescriptionThis course is designed for Academic Leaders committed to effecting change in their schools by identifying and dismantling biased and racist structures. To decolonize educational spaces, people of color cannot bear the burden of change, and white people cannot simply be allies. We must all engage in the process—moving beyond traditional roles to create an inclusive environment. We need to move beyond the culture of injustice embedded in our society so that we can make space for ourselves, our colleagues, and our students to be whole, participate fully in community life, and become informed citizens. In this course, we will leverage culturally responsive practices to address salient equity issues and divisive topics—such as white supremacy practices and critical race theory—that arise in school curricula and pedagogies. |
