Picture of change sign
In 2019, One Schoolhouse marked its tenth anniversary. It was a time to reflect on growth and to realize that what was once a radical idea–high quality online courses driven by learner engagement–had become mainstream.

As part of our reflection, we drew on an Academic Leadership Competency:  Assess the present, understand the past, and design for the future. When we took a look backwards, we found inspiration for our newest project:  the Association for Academic Leaders, powered by One Schoolhouse.
On April 1, we’ll open the Association’s preview period–three months for inaugural members and consortium schools to access just some of the community and learning that support the success of Academic Leaders in independent schools. When we launch the Association on July 1, the full range of resources and connections will be available to members.

As the preview of the Association for Academic Leaders opens, you’ll notice some changes. Here’s a look at what you can expect.
  • Every week, we ask Academic Leaders a pulse question of the moment and then report the results and share insights on the topics raised with resources drawn from our own work and best practices from multiple professional fields. We’ll continue to provide these data points and resources in our new member newsletter, Meet the Moment, which launches this Sunday.
  • When Meet the Moment hits your inbox, you’ll see our new logo and look right away. It’ll be your first glimpse at the new look and feel that you’ll soon find throughout our website, our courses, presentations and publications. We’re excited about this fresh new look and we think you’ll like the energy it brings to our offerings.
  • On Tuesday, April 5, you’ll receive your first edition of our new One Schoolhouse newsletter, Open Doors, which shares what’s new across our organization, in our student courses, and for the Association for Academic Leaders.
  • On April 6, our members and preview participants can check out our new Live On Wednesday series, which will provide samples of our Webinars and Conversations.
    • The Wednesday webinars will feel familiar. We’re returning with half-hour opportunities for our members to learn from interviews with experienced colleagues or practitioners in the field about specific topics of interest to academic leaders. There’s always time for Q&A included in webinars.  Webinars will be recorded and available to members to watch on-demand at a time convenient for them.
    • On alternating Wednesdays, we offer hour-long member conversations, which are an opportunity to discuss a current topic of practice with a group of peers. Conversations begin with a presentation from a colleague who has insights and expertise to share on a problem of practice or current issue, followed by breakout discussion and a wrap-up.
  • Finally we’re thrilled to share that we’ve also re-envisioned our in-person events to create our inaugural Academic Leaders Forum. Over two days, members will share experiences, learn leadership strategies from inspirational keynotes, and collaborate with colleagues from independent schools across the country.

If you’re not an Association member and want to take advantage of new member benefits like Live on Wednesdays, and member-exclusive programming, including online courses and cohorts, reach out to Sarah Hanawald for more information. We hope you’re as excited by these updates and refreshes as we are!
