About a year ago, we asked Academic Leaders to identify the leadership skill they most want to develop. Just under a quarter of those surveyed were looking to develop their communication skills, while another 24% of Academic Leaders aspire to become more inspiring. When we asked the question again last week, inspiring came out on top, followed by serving, and with communicative tied for third. Over the past two school years, Academic Leaders have put their communities first. Whether it was health and safety, equity and inclusion, or student and staff wellness, Academic Leaders made sure that their students and colleagues had the resources and support they needed.
It's clear from the results that Academic Leaders are in search of the skills that will bring them closer to their communities. Communication, empathy, and service are some of the key characteristics of an inspirational leader
