Grow Where You Lead

Cohort for Women Assistant & Associate Heads of School

Assistant and Associate Heads play a central role in leading schools: managing across priorities, guiding teams, and advancing strategy.

For women in these roles, that leadership comes with its own set of challenges and opportunities.

This new cohort-based program from the Association for Academic Leaders and The Heads Network offers space for women Assistant and Associate Heads to grow alongside peers while exploring four key themes essential to success in this vital leadership role:

  • leading through influence

  • navigating strategy

  • understanding leadership through a gendered lens

  • redefining success

Designed for current Assistant and Associate Heads who identify as female, this cohort-based program offers dedicated space to reflect, learn, and grow alongside a community of peers who understand the complexity of the role. Anchored in research-informed leadership frameworks and enriched by peer insight, the experience supports participants in expanding their leadership capacity and gaining new perspective on how they lead within and across their schools.

  • Kick-off retreat (in-person): Oct 6-7, 2025, at Holton-Arms School, Bethesda, MD

  • Three Zoom sessions across 25-26 school year

  • Current school must be either an Association for Academic Leaders OR The Heads Network member school

  • Cost: $750, plus travel expenses
