"What I love about my job is that every day is different, and indeed every time of day is different. I love seeing the kids outside during lunch and break and being able to sit with them and talk."
Sonia Bell
"My favorite part of the day is 6:00 pm because I love seeing how many students are still on campus because they are so engaged and involved, and they are in no hurry to get home."
Justin Brandon
"My mother was a teacher. I grew up watching her plan lessons, sponsoring talent shows, and making time for her students while raising two kids. I admired how she was able to connect and challenge her students."
Bob Bryan

"An educator who inspired me was Mr. Oram, my high school humanities teacher, who was in his second year of teaching when I was in his class. He explored new territory right alongside us, and wasn't afraid to be vulnerable. That environment made for some of the best learning that I have ever experienced and shaped my perception of what a teacher should be."
Michael Ehrenfried
"As an Academic Leader I love the opportunity to build spaces that foster connections: connections between students, faculty, and the institution; connections between our school community and the broader educational and local communities; and connections between talented people, intentional ideas, and community resources."
Rasha El-Haggan
"As an Academic Leader, I am learning not just the content of whatever I'm working on at the time, but more of the soft skills and habits of mind of being a leader. I'm constantly reflecting and inquiring into my own learning journey, trying to be the best version of myself"
Rachel Herlein
"For Academic Leaders, every day provides a new challenge, a new success, and a new perspective-shaping conversation. It's a job that requires continual learning and growing."

"What I love about being an Academic Leader is the chemistry or magic of working with a great team on a project that can help to animate the school's mission. I love the chance to create and problem-solve with likeminded people. I love belonging to communities that spring up around caring for and developing young people."
Dr. Whittney Preston
"My favorite time of day is the morning, before the first class starts. I get to greet teachers, students, and other faculty members in a positive way and get their day started right!"

"My high school math teacher is the educator who really inspired me. He hand picked 9 students to double up on math our sophomore year so we could take Calculus as seniors. Of the 9 of us... 5 were girls."
Andi Shurley
"We get to see the hugely transformational moments in learners’ lives, while we also get to wade into the occasionally silly minutiae that make for great stories. I think the blend of sublime and ridiculous moments keeps me humble and helps me to remain grateful for moments of awe."
Elizabeth Smith
"Liza Lee, the former head of the Hockaday School, is an educator who inspired me. In addition to being a graduate of the same college, Liza taught me how to remain strong gracefully, and always have a sense of humor."
