Instructional Rounds: Fostering Reflective Teacher Practice
Dates Offered: July 14 - 18, 2025
Course Description
Instructional rounds are a powerful approach to improving student learning by fostering a reflective teaching culture. This course guides academic leaders in planning and implementing a pilot program to explore the role of instructional rounds within their school’s context. Participants will engage with a “problem of practice” framework, learning to identify and develop meaningful issues that are central to their school’s goals and challenges.
Participants will gain skills in creating supportive, non-judgmental observation frameworks. These frameworks are designed to encourage collaborative inquiry among educators, helping them to see each other's practices without imposing judgment. By fostering norms and clear guidelines, teachers will feel supported in engaging with their colleagues meaningfully.
By the end of the course, participants will understand the role of instructional rounds in their schools and be prepared to plan a pilot program tailored to their professional growth culture.
