  • If Not Up, Then What? Rethinking Leadership Growth

You don’t need a new title to keep growing. If you’re energized by your current role but unsure what growth looks like next, you’re not alone. Too often, leadership is framed as a climb. This session challenges that idea.

This session is designed for leaders who feel fulfilled in their current roles and are looking for ways to keep evolving. We’ll consider how to cultivate meaningful growth, strengthen your impact, and continue developing as a leader while staying rooted in your work. You’ll leave with new insights, fresh energy, and a clearer vision for your leadership journey ahead.

  • Generative AI Meetup: Looking Back and Looking Ahead

  • Start with the Work: A Preview of New Research on Department Chairs

Department chairs play a critical role in schools, yet the role is often shaped more by tradition than intention. In this session, we’ll share a preview of a forthcoming research report from the Association for Academic Leaders, grounded in original interviews with more than 60 academic leaders and informed by management research on middle leadership. Together, we’ll explore how schools are defining, structuring, and supporting the role and where common misalignments emerge. Join Abe Wehmiller and Erin Rehel for an early look at the findings and what resources you can expect from the Association in the coming months!
